Haplogroup C1 also known as C-F3393, is a major Y-chromosome haplogroup. It is one of two primary branches of Haplogroup C alongside C2 (M217; the former C3). While the basal/paragroup C1 * has not been found, subclades of C-F3393 are the predominant Y-DNA haplogroup among males belonging to many peoples indigenous to Oceania and South Asia. It is also a rare haplogroup among some populations throughout Asia and some old populations in Southern Europe.
